Description

The Course "Cancer of the Salivary Glands, Midface, Orbits and Skull Base" is of interest for both residents and specialists working in the field of maxillofacial surgery, plastic surgery, otolaryngology, neurosurgery and oncology. It draws attention on the pitfalls in the diagnosis and multidisciplinary treatment of these types of cancers and their associated regional and general metastasis. Lectures and presentations aim at adequate information on current advances and state of the art of diagnosis and treatment. The discussion on clinical cases, scheduled for the end of each course day, will demonstrate the application of the asserted principles as well as give the audience the possibility to raise practical questions.

Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Cluj-Napoca

Founded in 1948 by Prof. Cornel Opriș, educated at the school of Pichler, in Vienna, and Wassmund, in Berlin, the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery of Cluj-Napoca impetuously developed, over the next thirty years, to cover all the aspects of the OMF pathology. After a relative modest evolution in the 1980's, due to the constraints imposed by the communists, it revived after the Anti-Communist Revolution of 1989. By gaining access to scientific information and attending the most prestigious international congresses, the Department rapidly developed, connected to the European and International Societies for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Nowadays, keeping close relations with different European and International centers of excellence, the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery of Cluj-Napoca represents one of the most important medical and educational center for this specialty in Romania.
